I completed my BSc in Biomedical Sciences at Newcastle University, during which I also undertook an industrial placement as an innovation scientist at a consumer healthcare company. My final year research project focused on investigating the role of the a7 nicotinic receptor during the immunopathogenesis of pulpitis. During my time at university, I developed a strong passion for immunology through completing my dissertation in the field, studying immunology-focused modules, and gaining valuable experience through shadowing opportunities.
Prior to joining the Draper Group, I was based at an immunology-focused biotechnology company specialising in the development of products to better understand and manage adaptive immune responses. I was responsible for the high-throughput purification of antibody-mimetics from bacterial expression systems.
In July 2026, I joined the Draper Group as a research assistant, supporting the preclinical evaluation of novel blood-stage malaria vaccines by investigating how the vaccines developed within the group impact the growth of Plasmodium parasites in culture.
